Attic insulation works year-round to save money on heating AND cooling. Don't let your utility bills go through the roof—literally!
What Does Attic Insulation Do?
Insulation is designed for one purpose: to control the movement of conductive heat moving through solid materials. Contrary to popular belief, insulation does not stop cold air, it only provides resistance against heat movement.
In the winter, insulation prevents heat from escaping into your attic. Even the most powerful, efficient furnace is no match for an attic that’s under-insulated.
In the summer, heat builds up in your attic. Insulation helps keep heat from being transferred into your home. Temperatures in attics can easily reach 130-150 degrees on a hot summer day. Insufficient insulation provides little resistance, and that intense heat moves down into your living space. Many people blame their air conditioner for not keeping the upper levels of their home cool in the summer, when the problem is often insufficient attic insulation. Poor ventilation is also a problem. Where do we see the most serious ventilation problems? Homes built in the last 30 years!
